Favorite place to take out-of-towners: The Gathering Place and Guthrie Green top the list, along with Turkey Mountain for outdoor fun. I also love the new pedestrian bridge. Route 66, Meadow Gold and Mother Road Market provide a fun historical atmosphere. Brookside and downtown Tulsa are perfect for lunch or nightlife — and Mondo’s in Brookside is a family favorite.
Favorite getaway: “While I love the beach and visiting New York, nothing beats the mountains of Colorado. Vail is my happy place — but now that my daughter lives in NYC, that’s climbing the list. Also, a fave spot – Italy.
What’s playing on your Spotify: Thanks to my daughter, I stay current with today’s music but I’ll always be an ’80s–’90s girl at heart. Billy Joel, the Eagles, Richard Marx, Jimmy Buffett, Rick Springfield, and ShawnColvin are my go-tos. I am also a “Swiftie” and I love discovering independent musicians. Check out my daughter’s friend Katie Blackwell. And I do enjoy some country – Garth and Keith Urban are my favorites.
Can’t-miss TV: I believe right now that Shrinking on Apple TV is the best show playing. I also like Nobody Wants This, Abbott Elementary, The Diplomat & The Morning Show. I’m a big fan of Jon Stewart and “The Daily Show”. and The Late Show with Stephen Colbert. My late-night comfort shows will always be reruns of Friends or Seinfeld. We are big football fans in our house, and I like to watch just about any team although I’m partial to my Mizzou Tigers and Denver Broncos.
Favorite quotes:
“A year from now you will wish you started today.”
“Start where you are. Use what you have. Do what you can.” – Arthur Ashe
And from my grandmother and mother: “This too shall pass.”
